As Jude woke slowly, she was aware of two things—Temple’s arms around her and the full, sweet feeling of safety that permeated her entire being.

She didn’t have a watch or her phone, so she lifted Temple’s wrist gently and looked at his watch. To her surprise, she’d slept through the night and into the next day. It was nearly dinnertime.

Temple made a soft murmuring sound and snuggled a little closer to her. She smiled and was so thankful to be with him.

“It’s late, yeah?” Temple murmured.

“It depends on your definition of late.”

He lifted his wrist. “Damn. I slept like the dead. You?”

“I slept great.”

He sat up and she rolled to her back and stretched. “How are you feeling?” he asked.

“Like myself.”

“No aches or anything?”

“Nope. Sleeping for over twelve hours will do that to a person.”

“Indeed. How about we clean up and grab something to eat? I’m starving.”

“Me too.”

They carried their things to one of the bathrooms. A few of the stalls were in use by other vampires, but they were able to take two next to each other. She was grateful for the feminine products that Harmony had sent her, including a body wash that smelled like fresh picked summer peaches. Humming a tune, she stepped under the warm spray and let out a little groan.

“Stop making those sexy sounds, woman,” Temple said.

With a giggle, she said, “I’m not going to apologize for thinking the water pressure in these showers is really, really good.”

“Too bad we’re not alone.”

His tone had changed from teasing to downright sexy and she doubly wished they weren’t alone. The question was what they’d do if that were the case? Would they fool around and not go all the way? Would they make love? Would he bite her and bind them as mates?

She would’ve been happy with any of those options. Leaving his arms had been rough.

If it were possible, it would have been amazing to be able to just stay in bed for the rest of the night and coming day too. But it wasn’t like they could just hole up and forget everything.

The reality of their situation was that the coven had a dangerous enemy who’d proven that he was not above harming innocents to get what he wanted. When she’d first met Jason and heard about his vendetta against the coven, she’d thought it was a bit noble. She understood vengeance, so she could relate to the part of him that wanted to balance the scales of justice. But Jason’s vengeance, noble or not, came with a shit-ton of crazy on the side, and that made him a deadly enemy to have.

She turned off the shower and rubbed at her hair with one of two towels she’d hung on hooks outside the stall. She twisted her hair up in the towel, dried off her body, and dressed in the borrowed clothes—a pair of jeans, a black tank, and a light-weight olive-colored jacket. Grabbing her boots, she put on fresh socks and laced up the boots, then headed out of the stall to run a brush through her damp hair.
